The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 12 commercial establishments across the Ijora Causeway and Apapa areas over allegations of persistent violations of environmental regulations.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the enforcement action was executed following a major operation carried out on Wednesday.
The sweep targeted businesses LASEPA said ignored repeated warnings, failed to heed formal abatement notices, and neglected unfulfilled compliance commitments.
The affected locations span industrial building material depots, logistics hubs, shipping terminals, and hospitality businesses found culpable of improper waste management and effluent disposal.
Prominent sites sealed during the exercise include Helmar Building Materials on Ijora Causeway, Innocast Nigeria Ltd on Saka Alao Street, Body Language Shipping & Cargo on Liverpool Road, and Park Inn Hotel on Caulcrick Road.
Speaking on the development, Babatunde Ajayi, general manager of LASEPA, reaffirmed the agency’s strict commitment to safeguarding public health and preserving urban ecosystems.
Ajayi emphasised that continuous monitoring of commercial and industrial corridors will remain a top priority to curb environmental degradation across the state.
The agency noted that uncompromising regulatory enforcement is essential as urban centres grapple with rising ecological pressures, waste management challenges, and public safety threats.
LASEPA further urged corporate entities and facility operators to immediately align their business practices with approved environmental laws or face severe legal sanctions.
